I am the owner and founder of K-9 Solutions, a dog-training company I have run successfully for twenty two years. I’ve been surrounded by dogs all my life. I may not be older than you or even wiser than you in general, but chances are good that I have a lot more experience and wisdom than you do when it comes to solving dog problems. They have more years of experience than you do about life in general. Who is Carlos Puentes, and why should I listen to him? Why should you listen to your grandparents, mother, father, or elementary school teacher? Because you can learn from them. So, as you know, we’re impressed with K-9 Solutions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others. I know that most didn’t even believe I had what it took to even take that first step to start and successfully run a business training dogs for twenty two years. I’m glad to say that we’ve gone through a lot of really good times during our journey. It’s a miracle she has been able to keep her own sanity. I would be in an insane asylum with multiple personalities. If it weren’t for her decision to leave her insurance career of twenty-five years in 2007 to take over my important duties of secretary, public relations expert, and salesperson-and even filling in for dog trainers at times-my business would have never reached the level it has today. I would like to express my gratitude to my wife, Gina. In turn, I thank them for becoming repeat customers in that time of need. I often give them more than what they paid for or expected. I owe it to my faith, perseverance, hard work, excellent customer service, and understanding my customers. I’ve managed to keep my business up and running successfully-even during the hardest times that businesses in this nation have faced: 9/11, the recent housing crisis and financial meltdown in 2008, and the second-highest unemployment rate of this nation’s history in 2010. Here’s the good news-if you don’t know how, I will show you! It may not be easy for you-and it will take some work-but if you want to modify his natural behavior, you’re going to have to make it happen. No matter if your dog is dominant, shy, fearful, energetic, docile, stubborn, or aggressive, your dog is acting perfectly normal. I make sure my customers understand that until they are sick and tired of being sick and tired, stop making excuses, take accountability, take action, and get real, they’re not going to make any significant, lasting changes in any aspect of their lives-or in the lives of their dogs. That’s the same approach I take with dog training. I was going to make it happen no matter what and started working hard at it. I was at the point where I truly wanted to change and start my career as a dog trainer. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I got real, and I didn’t like what I saw. When my wife was pregnant with our first daughter, I took a good, honest look at myself. Sometimes I worked three jobs at a time to barely make ends meet. I’ve sold Kirby vacuum cleaners, cleaned fish farm tanks, cooked pizzas in a delivery truck, and done security work. In fact, it’s been a slow, long, winding road. My journey hasn’t always been a carnival ride or a red-rose speedway. It’s never too late to change the way we feel, what we think, what we believe, what we do, and how we behave in relation to our dogs. Marc Agronin was interviewed on the Today Show to promote How We Age, his last words were, “It’s never too late to change.” His words stuck in my head and remind me that we can apply them to our relationships with our dogs. It’s Never Too Late to Change from Real Dogs Real Problems Real Solutions. So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Puentes.
